HLR lookup of cell ID level
Our standard HLR Lookup can be used in connection with our SMS Center and Asterisk. The HLR Lookup can identify the MSC that the mobile phone is active at. This can be used as a rough location identifier.
It is now possible for us also to fetch the ID of the cell the mobile phone is active at. This enables provision of much more precise location data that can be used by applications. We can fetch of the information via the customer’s own connections to mobile networks and to make it available for third party applications.
Here is and example of how the HLR lookup at cell ID level can be used: The mobile end user sends an SMS to a short or a long code with the text ‘local’. Then an SMS is returned with the address of the nearest retail outlet, e.g. a bank or an ATM.
